If given the choice, I will almost always choose a hoodie and flats over a dress and heels. It has to do with my upbringing in Maryland where we females would “play both sides” sometimes getting dolled up and other times going full-on tomboy, even wearing men’s clothes and shoes. I’m definitely most comfortable in basics – jeans, tennis shoes, and a loose fitting hoodie or t-shirt.
Speaking of basics, I don’t wear leggings often but I’m starting to add them to the mix. They’re easy to move around in and lighter than jeans. I’m excited that Amazon has a new line of elevated basics called Daily Ritual, with a nice selection of leggings, short sleeved t-shirts, tops, and dresses.

I’ve said on the blog a couple times that I really like camouflage. I have 4 camo jackets alone (this one is from Sportsman’s Guide). The yellowish-green shades in the jacket inspired me to pair it with a gold hoodie (by Champion, available here). I always try to incorporate unexpected elements in my looks and this color is a little outside-of-the-box. Fun fact: I designed it for a travel group I was a part of during grad school (the design is kinda visible in some of the pics).
The shoes are Nike Air Force Ones (available here) better known as “Uptowns” to New Yorkers. I’m still warming up to them to be honest. While I really like shoes with white bottoms, I have never liked Air Force Ones. They’re bulky and lack shape (sorry NY’ers, don’t come for me!). This pair was a gift from the Glamour of the Year Summit and I surprise myself that I actually really like them! The straps and patent leather conceal the bulkiness while adding an edgy modern twist. Sorry, Nike, I don’t like any of the other colorways, but I ride for this pair.
