I’ve always been weary of mixing brown and black but, now that I think about it, I don’t know why. Is that a fashion faux pax, like wearing white after Labor Day (although, who even really follows this?) or Adidas track pants with Nike shoes??
I guess this isn’t a “thing” anymore because fashion “rules” are meant to be broken. Check out this coat that blends brown and black in a cool way. It’s a camel colored Veronica Beard coat that comes with a detachable black leather dickey (a fake shirt…yes, these are a laughing stock within fashion). This pic should explain why:
Despite this ridiculousness, it enhances an otherwise basic coat. Plus, this extra layer blocks wind and cool air. Fashion AND function, my friends. I also like the slim fit of the coat and the long arms (very difficult to find as a tall woman).
I happened to have these black vegan booties with brown soles. So, I chose these for this look because they bring the color palette full circle from head-to-toe.
To be honest, I’m not crazy with my pick for jeans. A more dim wash would have worked better with the coat, and slimmer fit jeans would have cleaned up the silhouette.
