Print mixing is a styling technique I’m starting to embrace more and more. I don’t know why I didn’t before…maybe because solids were just easier. Now that my wardrobe is maturing, I like more interesting pieces and mixing them creates a bit of a challenge, or atleast keeps my looks interesting.
This vintage striped dress is from Thriftwares. They’re one of my favorite Brooklyn-based vintage vendors because all their pieces have contemporary elements. Plus, their merchandising is really good. This little frock is cool not just because of the stripes, but also because of the v-neck, and the length (it hits at the calves).
I can also wear it across seasons. In the winter, I’m going to play around with layering tops underneath and adding a bootie, maybe even a tall boot. For this summer look, I dabbled with mixing prints by adding these Schutz sandals with leopard print detail. I figured the orange and white in the shoes would tie with the dress.
I chose this look for a blogging conference to not blend into the crowd. Pro Trip: When attending a networking event (especially a large one), opt for color or a piece that would start a convo.
Thanks to fellow NYC-based fashion bloggette Patricia and my roomie, Rajeeyah, for the impromptu shoots!
