The red silk top is Gucci from Williamsburg based vintage store, The Bargain District, run by the lovely Monique Sinha. The ankle moto pants are from Madewell. I thought about pairing the top with a light colored bottom – like blue denim jeans – but I went with dark bottoms makes they make the red pop.
My favorite piece in this look is the duster coat. It is my mom’s (mine now :)). It’s cotton but looks and feels like velvet, so it has a slight shimmer. It also has rolled up sleeves, although the length of the coat is very long, creating cool proportion. I googled the coat’s tag which reads ‘JS Collections’ and, to my surprise, it’s still a recent-ish brand that’s sold at mid-high stores. Who knew?
The coat doesn’t have any closures, so I played around with tying a lace belt around to close the lapel, layer in texture, and add color.
The booties are from one of my favorite shoe brands, Schutz, a Brazilian based company. This particular design (Fadhila) isn’t available in black anymore but they have a bunch of cute suede (and leather) boots and booties. Check them out on Amazon.
Thanks, Luc Kordas, for recommending we shoot near La Esquina which matched my outfit to a “T”
