Scarves You Can Wear as Super Cute Tops

I was shopping in SoHo and saw this stylish woman wearing a super cute top. When I complimented her on it, she told me that it was a scarf that she had fashioned into a top. I’m sure people do this all the time, but I had never thought about doing it. Funnily enough, her name was Sabrina too!

Her look inspired me to want to try it too. The issue is that all the scarves I had were bandana size, which were too small. So, I decided to get a few larger scarves that I could wear as tops. The bonus is that I could also wear them as a headscarf as well as a belt or headband.

This is a look that I wore in Montego Bay, Jamaica. It may be hard to see in the photo, but the scarf is slightly iridescent and has tassels on both ends. That made it even more fun to wear as a bandeau. Plus, the pink and dark blue horizontal stripes play off the pink vertical stripes in the pants well. You can shop similar versions of these pieces here and below.

Now, I realize I have an itty bitty chest which makes this style a little easier to pull off. I still think it may be doable for those with larger chests by wearing a strapless bra underneath. Let me know your thoughts in the comments.

I shot this photo in my one of my mother’s old suits, and made it more contemporary by pairing it with a white and burgundy scarf that I’m wearing as a tube top.

In addition to the “Scarves” idea list on my Amazon page, I compiled a variety of scarves that would look great as a top – like a tube top or bandeau – or accessory. Click to shop!

Let me know in the comments if you’ve worn, or considered wearing, a scarf as a top? If so, how did you style it?
