Now that I’m a full-time entrepreneur, I’ve started to vary my work and meeting attire for a couple of reasons. First, because I can! I’ve always worn traditional “business casual” clothes which felt forced and inauthentic at times. Now, I dress according to my mood and the setting of the meeting…always being sure to remain professional.
Second, because I’m bouncing around between meetings my looks are more versatile. I want to be able to go to from the boardroom to the bar (okay maybe that’s a stretch…well, actually not. It’s possible when you make your own schedule).
This is an example of my newfound entrepreneurial style. You may be wondering why I’m going to a meeting where my stomach is out. Fortunately, I work in fashion so I have a bit more leeway but – to reiterate – I always remain professional so I’m sure to assess my audience and environment to assess how much “risk” I can take.
The items from this look are below. Let me know what you think about this newfound “from boardroom to bar” look. Are you liking any of the pieces? The sunnies are my favorite from this look.
The Look:
Here I’m wearing the Talla floral print tie crop top by A Peace Treaty paired with a tiered denim skirt by Rachel Zoe I got from a sample sale in NYC. To add to the flirty look and play around with the color, I added a few accessories. The red sunglasses by Illesteva (a new brand I discovered also at a recent sample sale) and a dainty, short length rose gold necklace to add a hint of sparkle on my chest since the top was low cut. The straw tote bag by A Peace Treaty fits with the casual and playful yet comfortable vibe and the red patent leather platform slides are BCBG Max Azria.
Interesting pops of color or subtle design elements (like the skirt’s ruffles or the straw bag) can turn an otherwise basic outfit into a fun, interesting, and stylish look!
