Winter is officially here in NYC. I am not happy about it because I do not like cold weather. Period.
However, there is a silver lining: all the fabulous coats (and accessories – scarves, hats, gloves, and stylish boots).
As I’ve mentioned several times on the blog, I have a FAVORITE winter coat that is in a league of its own. It’s extremely warm, chic, and versatile. Or maybe it’s so warm, I end up wearing it all the time whether it’s appropriate for the look or not :). The coat is by Mackage, a similar version is here.
The fact that I absolutely adore this coat doesn’t stop me from investing in other stylish, warm, and cozy coats and jackets each year. I think of these pieces as investments because they typically do not go out of style and can be dressed up or down depending on the outfit! Not to mention, outerwear is the first piece everyone sees so – for all intents and purposes – it IS the outfit. This holds true especially in locations like New York City (where I’m based) where you’re out and about experiencing all the elements (wind, cold, snow) whether you want to or not.
Regardless of where you’re based, it’s essential to have cold season outerwear. Check out a few options I’ve laid out below, as well as on the Chic Winter Jackets & Coats list on my Amazon storefront.
Which are your favorites? Do you prefer wearing jackets with layers underneath or topping off your looks with coats…or does it depend on the weather, or where you’re based? Let me know in the comments.
I absolutely love the print and colorful options (well, of course I do – I LOVE PRINTS AND COLORS!). However, a solid monochrome option is fantastic and timeless, and can be accessorized with other pieces to add some “oomph!”
A super cool way to dress up a look, whether it’s for a night out or even an ordinary day at the office, is with a cool leather jacket.
