My newest style development is that I am finally embracing prints. I used to mainly wear solids, which are always core pieces to have because they can easily be mixed and matched…
…But, I’m bored with solids. So, lately, I have been opting for texture and prints because they are interesting and add dimension. As a 30-something women, it’s liberating to evolve my style by playing around with prints which, I think, requires confidence and sophistication to pull off.
For this outfit, I combined a vintage Versace print (from La Poubelle Vintage, a Brooklyn-based vintage shop), with colored suede texture which gives off a fun, playful vibe. Don’t the green/yellow/purple colors and print feel reminisicent of the Fresh Prince or House Party?
The suede skirt is also vintage from East Village Vintage Collective, a shop located in…suprise! The Village.
I paired this top and bottom together because the purple in the shirt goes with the color of the skirt. The black suede Schutz Fadhila boots (similar boot here) round out the look because they’re the same texture as the skirt and tie to the main color of the top (black).
The white camisole layered underneath was to give the outfit a more relaxed feel. It is from Long Tall Sally. This was my first purchase from LTS and I’m a happy customer because the cami was shipped and arrived quickly and fits well. It is soft, long (I can actually tuck it in) and has the right amount of stretch. I’m used to camis riding up on me, which is uncomfortable. #tallgirlproblems
Thanks, Luc Kordas, for the shoot!
